The Nebraska Clay Guild is a non-profit organization that strives to build a clay community in the state by connecting ceramic artists and providing them with opportunities for exhibition, learning, and sales. The Guild is open to all styles and levels of experience, and there are no membership fees. Every two years, the Guild hosts the Biennial, a juried exhibition of works by Nebraska artists that brings together diverse styles, media, and backgrounds. Submissions for the Biennial are blindly reviewed by a panel of judges from across the state. This process ensures that works of art are chosen without biases or name recognition.
The Biennial is open to all Nebraska artists, including current and former students and residents. Students' artwork does not need school sponsorship. All students from Nebraska or Iowa can enter this competition independently and submit their art directly to the Audubon Society of Omaha. Home-schooled students can also participate in this competition. The Fred and Eve Simon Charitable Foundation, the Nebraska Museum of Art (MONA), and Friends of Gallery 1516 will select pieces that will become the traveling exhibition that will be shown at MONA in Kearney after the end of the Gallery 1516 exhibition. The Biennial is an excellent opportunity for Nebraska and Iowa artists to showcase their work to the public.
